Trip Description:  Revel in the sounds, scents, and scenery of the natural world while connecting to your body, mind, and spirit through the daily practice of Yoga in the Scapegoat Wilderness. The Scapegoat, in northwestern Montana, is the southern portion of the much larger Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex (1.5 million acres). Hike and enjoy yoga through a 28 mile loop in this stunning area. Every morning, release yourself from the stillness of the night and salute the sun during our morning Yoga practice.  Most hiking days are less than eight miles to leave ample time for a nourishing pre-supper practice. With pack stock to carry most of your gear, carry only a light day pack.  Prepare yourself for restful sleep with a brief evening practice featuring pranayama (breath control) and guided meditation.  On the first day, we climb over a small pass near Crown Mountain which affords dramatic views of the meeting of the northern Great Plains and the limestone masses of the Rocky Mountain Front.  From here, we drop down into Straight Creek, a lovely stream that curves its way through a mosaic of burned and unburned timber, creating wonderful habitat for wildlife.  Then, we venture up the Green Fork of Straight Creek to arrive at Half Moon Basin.  Half Moon Basin sits at the foot of the Scapegoat Wall, a sheer limestone cliff rising 2,000 feet above the basin.  In short, it is a powerful place.  Much of the land to the south was burnt in 1988, leaving lush alpine hillsides in its wake.  We spend two nights at Half Moon basin.  On the layover day, there is an option to go part or all of the way up the Scapegoat Wall to reach the wild Scapegoat Plateau that extends north and south along the continental divide.   Leaving Half Moon Basin, we meander along the base of the wall, and then follow Cave Creek (there might be huckleberries!) down to the Dearborn River.  Our last day is spent reflecting, as we hike over Welcome Pass and down along the rock pools of Smith Creek.
